West Cork Leader
 The West Cork LEADER Website is designed to inform, stimulate and communicate on issues of interest to local development agencies, statutory bodies, community groups and to those with a keen interest in local economic and social development.
The primary objective of the Leader Programme is to demonstrate the development initiatives in rural areas and to further develop an environment and culture conducive to and supportive of local enterprise.
We hope to achieve this objective through an integrated approach at local level in identifying, harnessing, and optimizing the development potential of local resources by the following means:
Provision of technical assistance supports.
· Provision of training assistance to address skills deficiencies.
· Support for capital investment, and marketing assistance.
· Development of strategic partnerships.
· Support for local community initiatives in developing.
Since formal approval for the operation of LEADER II Programme in September 1995, we have held a series of information meetings at local level to outline the nature and workings of the programme. These meetings combined with the general animation activity under taken by the Board and Staff members has resulted in over 700 formal applications for grant assistance received to date. We will be reporting on the progress made by these and other projects and initiatives supported by the West Cork LEADER Co-op. In the meantime, we are interested in your views and happy to invite inquiries, comments or suggestions on any aspect of the programme.
