An Teach Beag - O'Donovan's Hotel
O'Donovan's Hotel or 'Óstán Uí Dhonnabháin' is a fifth generation family run hotel in the heart of Clonakilty, West Cork. It is Clonakilty's oldest family run hotel, originally built in Boyle Street (now Astna Street), in 1853, by Denis O'Donovan; the great, great, great grand father of current proprietors - Tom, Therese and Dena O'Donovan.
Although the hotel is 'old fashioned' in a sense, it has managed to bring its 'old world' feeling up to date by offering modern facilities. En suite bedrooms, complete with television, radio, alarm clock, hairdryer, pleasant decor, and central heating, all ensure that guests are pleased, and always return.
An Teach Beag
An Teach Beag is a traditional pub, housed in a tiny two hundred year old stone cottage. It is also one of Clonakity,s best kept little secrets. During the summer months, traditional Irish musicians gather here for music sessions seven nights a week. During quieter periods there is live music at weekends. Visiting musicians are always welcome to join in the session and on some warn nights, the session has even been known to move out doors to the beer garden. Adjacent to An Teach Beag is the 'Next Door' off licence, which opens seven days a week.
