1 2 Travel is Ireland's largest online travel service provider selling inbound products to the islands of Ireland and Britain through seven websites www.12travel.com, www.12travel.co.uk, www.12travel.ie, www.12travel.ca, france.12travel.com, www.12travel.jp and www.12travel.de servicing the US, UK, Irish, Canadian, French, Japanese and German markets respectively. The company is a complete travel resource offering flights, accommodation, car rental, escorted tours, activity holidays and general information about Ireland. All sales are generated from the websites and holidays can be either booked on-line or using a free phone number. The office is opened 7 days a week for a total of over 100hrs to cater for guests from different time zones.

Two main factors differentiate 1 2 Travel from traditional travel providers. Firstly the company offers inbound travel i.e. brings people into Ireland as opposed to sending them abroad. Secondly, 1 2 Travel is using a new distribution channel - the Internet, which allows entry into markets around the globe from offices in West Cork.

The websites are designed and maintained in-house by an excellent web design team and are designed to be visually appealing, navigable, informative, build brand and generate sales. Each site has more than 1,000 pages of content and the 1 2 Travel websites receive approx. 500,000 page impressions per month.

On the website, categories are clearly defined and information can be easily obtained. The colour scheme is well chosen and pictures are used throughout, but care is taken to ensure that all graphics download quickly.

Each category offers a large amount of information. Packages include Escorted Coach Tours, Self-Drive Vacations and Golf Tours. Accommodation contains Luxury Castles for rent, Manor Houses, Hotels and B&B's and Activities include Fishing, Watersports, Cycling and Walking, Equestrian Sports and Cruises.

An information section has helpful tips for travellers to Ireland such as arriving, embassies, law enforcement, driving, telephones etc. Also in this section a clickable map divides Ireland into 8 regions and contains details about various towns and cities. Other features on the site include a postcard service, Irish wallpaper images and screen savers, a currency converter and a distance chart.

1 2 Travel is a dynamic company and quickly adapts to new technology. Last year the company developed a WAP site for the domestic market, which is viewable at wap.12travel.ie. This is one of the biggest WAP sites in Ireland with over 3,000 pages of content and is included on Esat's DOL multiple platform portal.

1 2 Travel has just added a new product - destination Britain - which will be sold into the existing markets through a sales staff located in a new 1 2 Travel office in Wales. The company has won awards for both website design and business acumen. The future for 1 2 Travel is not yet written, watch this space.
